Project Manager Research & Development.

WHAT YOU’LL DO The Sr.

Project Manager within Hematology will be responsible providing leadership and management of planning, development and execution of large projects / programs for the business to achieve critical strategic business objectives.

Will manage multiple, often concurrent projects and consistently meet expectations.

Will make difficult decisions regarding priorities among projects.

Will define the business results expected from a project.

Will be the single person responsible and accountable for achieving those results, where results are expressed in terms of compliance with Design Control and/or Change Control policies, quality, time, scope and cost.

A project is a set of interrelated tasks that culminates in clearly defined business results.

The following are the major responsibilities: Lead the team through the translation of management and customer needs into project goals .

Identify resource requirements, cost and time schedules.

Develop an implementation plan, conduct risk assessments, and develop and implement contingency plans to allow for and accommodate unforeseen events and changes in strategy.

Anticipates and understands the business and organizational needs and has a thorough knowledge of the customer and global challenges when developing a project / program scope.

Integrates technology and business needs when defining project scope.

Manage the decision making process.

Participate on division-initiatives to identify process improvements to accelerate projects.

Prepare and present written and oral reports and other presentations to internal and external audiences.

Interprets Results/Recommends Options: Determine if results match requirements.

Plans Activity Structure and Relationships: Converts goals to tasks,gathers information regarding effort,resources,technical complexity and translates that information into project specifications.

Establishes Goals and Develops Plans: Provides conceptual framework for plan,defines milestones,reviews project load and recommends staffing,reviews status,suggests revisions to plan as necessary,develops/recommends budgets.

Adjust schedules when appropriate.

Works with cross functional groups to ensure that buffers are established appropriately.

Integrates Multiple Project Plans: Establishes and reviews complex plans for multiple projects and/or activities,plans resource allocation and distribution,and works on improvement and development of new planning processes.

Works with the PMO to ensure that consistent training matrixes exist for all PMs.

Implements Project Plans: Implements project plans to meet project goals, considers technical, resource, and regulatory requirements.

Continuously Improves: Recommends innovative ways to improve performance, quality and enhance profitability on an ongoing basis, modifies work processes and procedures in line with current ADD quality and regulatory requirements.

Achieves Goals: Makes and meets aggressive commitments to achieve plans and maintain progress.

Allocates Resources: Appropriately prioritizes tasks and allocates resources to achieve desired outcomes.

Works with cross-functional team to resolve resource conflicts, allocations.

Negotiate with resource managers to resolve any resource limitations that cannot be resolved by the team.

Drives for Results: Removes organizational barriers to achieving results.Actively Listens: Listens actively to acquire information and understand the other person’s viewpoint.

Builds Relationships: Initiates and cultivates open, honest, and beneficial relationships with colleagues and customers by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others’ needs, promoting common goals and following through on commitments.

Resolves Conflicts: Seeks out appropriate forum for conflict resolution.

Faces conflicts and takes initiative to resolve them constructively, diverts tensions away from individuals and toward work issues, probes for root causes of problems, collaborates to find mutually beneficial solutions, proposes action steps and assists in implementation.

Collaboratively settles disputes.Identifies Future Personal Development Needs: Translates changes in business goals and objectives into the skills,knowledge and experience needed for future work.

Assure that projects will effectively integrate with existing programs and strategies so that long and short term business goals are attained.

Manages Change: Evaluates the impact of project changes and adjusts implementation activities to meet revised.

Complies with all regulations and standards for quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy (EHS&E) Global Policies, Abbott Engineering Standards, and other governance areas as applicable.

Ensures quality and effectiveness of key results of major projects/ programs through sound design and project management processes.

Has full awareness of the potential consequences (defects and failure modes) of design changes.

Plans and Achieves Development Goals: Balances the time needed for accomplishing current work and planning and achieving development goals.

Receives/Gives Feedback: Asks for and gives feedback on the strengths and development needs of self/others, creates a team environment that encourages continuous learning and growth.

Prepares and presents to executive management and obtains their buy-in for major programs.

Provides updates to senior management.

Clearly communicates any changes and the impact to original plan to the cross-functional team and senior management in a timely fashion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING Required 4-year degree in technical or scientific discipline or equivalent experience (e.g.

5-years in product engineering role) with a minimum of seven years relevant experience.

Experience with project management .

Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.

Preferred 4-year degree in technical or scientific discipline or equivalent experience (e.g.

5-years in product engineering role) with a minimum of ten years relevant experience.

Experience with project management, PMP certification preferred.
