Position Summary:The primary objective of this position is to transport residents in company vehicles to and from predetermined and scheduled shopping destinations, cultural engagements, churches, special events, etc., in a safe and courteous manner.

Secondary objectives include supporting dining services (dining room setup, cleaning and support the kitchen) and assisting resident programs (assist in implementing and conducting resident programs under direction).Transportation tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:Transport residents in the company van/bus to predetermined and scheduled shopping destinations, medical appointments, cultural engagements, churches, special events, etc.Drive safely at all times using knowledge and skill in driving to avoid sudden motions that could cause detrimental conditions to residents.Perform pre-trip inspection of tires, brakes, lights, suspension system, and mirrors as required by State and Federal law.During driving, periodically check gauges such as: oil pressure, voltmeter, coolant temperature, and any warning lights, and report unusual findings to supervisor.Work with supervisor to identify, plan and facilitate service to the vehicle.Keep company vehicles clean and serviced according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.Maintain logs of trip inspections, preventative maintenance logs and maintenance records for community vehicle(s).Assist residents in and out of vehicle which includes the use of a wheelchair lift for some residents.Must be familiar with corporate, State, insurance accident and incident forms and reporting policies.Enforce that all residents wear their seat belts (where available and required), and that residents remain seated while vehicle is in motion.Secure passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.Deliver groceries and other belongings to resident’s apartments.Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information.Manage costs incurred to operate the company vehicle within the guidelines of the transportation budget.Dining Services tasks may include, but are not limited to:May be required to help finish food production or special functions.Assist resident with food selection, helps load trays and carries trays to table.Responsible for the set up and breakdown of all the tables.Transport room trays to the residents’ room.Perform any other duties as determined by the supervisor or the Executive Director.Programs tasks may include, but are not limited to:Responsible for assisting with resident programs as needed and when not driving the bus or providing other means of transportation.Meet with the Director of Resident Programs on a weekly basis, at minimum, to identify programs to assist in.Lead leisure time programs, as assigned by the Director of Resident Programs, such as games, arts, crafts, movies, etc.

in line with Resident Program Standards and calendar requirements.Lead physical activity programs, as assigned by the Director of Resident Programs, that offer opportunity for movement, such as chair exercise, standing exercise, walking, bowling, active games, outdoor activities, etc.Assist in decorating community with monthly or seasonal themes.Qualifications:Must possess, as a minimum, a high school degree or equivalent.Driver must not have a major * or capital** violation on his/her driving record, no more than one “at fault” accident of any type in the last three (3) years, and no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.

Includes driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, reckless driving resulting in bodily injury, property damage, or negligent homicide.

Includes driving after a driver’s license has been suspended, murder or assault with a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, hit and run, operating a vehicle after the registration has been revoked, or using a false or fictitious driver’s license or registration plates.Must be familiar with geographical layout of area of transportation.Must be familiar with methods to secure information, directions, etc.Must be able to communicate with team members and residents.Must be able to work weekends.
