The Senior Inside Sales Representative in Optum Frontier Therapies will be on the team of an exciting new business serving patients with rare diseases, pharma manufacturers, and providers by dispensing and servicing therapies at the frontier of healthcare.  As a new Optum business, we are building on our strengths but also challenging the status quo. We are creating a business that is designed to specifically serve the unique needs of rare disease patient populations and support the emerging therapies, which require enhanced services and new capabilities over traditional specialty pharmacies. The Senior Inside Sales Representative will be responsible for strategically developing and growing provider relationships in order to drive prescription volume to the pharmacy and meet or exceed sales goals. This is a brand-new team that will support the unique providers diagnosing and treating rare diseases with complex therapies, including gene therapies. A highly visible position charged with ensuring high satisfaction with providers and their staff in order to achieve the goals of strong relationships that drive initial business and sustain it for the long term.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a database of current and potential customers using a CRM tool.
  • Develop a strategy for achieving growth targets (prescription volume, new patients, new providers) for the drugs dispensed or distributed by Optum Frontier Therapies
  • Communicate with established and potential customers via outbound calls and approved electronic messaging to generate new and repeat business
  • Understand customer needs through active listening and identify sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with marketing and sales leadership to ensure sales collateral is relevant for the unique needs of providers engaging with Optum Frontier Therapies
  • Understand the competitive landscape and be competent on product offerings to succeed in establishing Optum Frontier Therapies as the pharmacy partner of choice.
  • Work closely with internal teams to relay market intelligence so the teams can respond and continually improve services to meet customer needs
  • Identify and solve issues with top providers and institutions to maintain a favorable business relationship
  • Represent Optum Frontier Therapies at strategic customer meetings or conferences as selected by sales leadership
  • Understand the payer landscape and develop strategies to maximize the potential of contracted relationships

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or higher
  • 3+ years’ experience in an outbound call center or a related inside sales role
  • Excellent phone and cold calling skills
  • Comfort with navigating different personnel within medical practices to get to key decision makers
  • Proven ability to set priorities and meet key objectives of the business
  • Customer service centered approach
  • Documented history of meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialty Pharmacy or pharmaceutical / medical sales to healthcare providers
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software such as Salesforce.com
  • Ability to work independently while remaining engaged with team
  • Vision and desire to build something new and different in the market
  • Be a team player and collaborate across functions

Colorado Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $21.63 to $43.27. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance.
