VP Digital Products & Strategy


This is a Full-time position in Austin, TX posted June 10, 2021.

Based remotely, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Vice President, Digital Products will be responsible for providing leadership to the teams that define the strategy and functionally of all digital products.

The vice president will lead several executives and their teams, in close collaboration with businesses from across the corporation, to define the entire end-to-end guest experience across all digital touch points.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and proven track record of product management and user experience design with respect to web and mobile, and engineering, as well as the ability to provide broad influential leadership towards the development of innovative digital experiences.

The ideal candidate will have an eye toward the rapidly evolving digital landscape and provide leadership over advanced and emerging concepts, such as the impact of artificial intelligence, screen-less user experiences, and beyond.

The vice president will be responsible for the constant improvement of audience research and product definition techniques.

S/he must be able to work with multiple product and project teams simultaneously, thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and connect unexpected threads across disparate delivery teams.

The role will provide direct leadership over directors of product and lead an overall team of 10-20 employees and approximately 20-30 contractors, freelancers, and vendors as digital products and initiatives are ideated, designed, developed and executed.

This leader requires the ability to direct and develop teams that ideate and deliver high-quality digital products for our prospects, students and employees by fostering a culture of data-driven and end-user focused product thinking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: At a high-level, responsibilities for this role will include:
Digital strategy: Under the CIO ‘s guidance, provides leadership over the strategic direction of all digital products, across all brands and all touch points, including strategy and positioning, product roadmap, product design, front-end technical development, launch and ongoing optimization.

Partner and collaborate closely with the leadership from the various brands and across the corporation to understand how to adapt and evolve the strategy of our digital products based on the key drivers of each of the user groups.

Product definition: Leads the team(s) responsible for the development of the vision and definition for our digital products by connecting multiple complex prospect, student, and employee touch points (e.g., research, feedback, etc.), technology strategy (e.g., owned platforms v.

white labeling), business drivers and business value, with a customer-first focus.

Product delivery: The vice president is ultimately accountable for the digital product that is created and developed, and is ultimately responsible for the on-time, on-budget and on-strategy delivery of our products and projects through careful prioritization and review Product standards: Leads the team(s) in setting the corporation-wide digital principles, standards and practices (across product, design and engineering), and is ultimately responsible for ensuring that all delivery teams apply those practices to their various work products Product roadmap: Leads the team(s) responsible for the development of the overall product roadmap (across all digital products) ‘” in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders ‘” and in close collaboration with the Agile Delivery Office –
– helps develop the annual operating plan, including advocating for the appropriate level of funding necessary to meet the rapid adoption of digital products by our prospect, owner, and employee audiences.

Personnel management: Responsible for all aspects of personnel management (e.g., hiring, training and development, etc.) of the her/his direct reports and overall team
Financial Responsibilities:
Responsible for the execution of the digital capex and opex products, assumed to be in excess of $1M
– $5M per year Responsible for the product delivery budget, including vendor management, in excess of $10M per year
Minimum 15 years in a digital product, design, or engineering senior leadership role Bachelor ‘s degree required, with a MS/MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred Significant experience in leading teams/organizations in bringing high quality digital products to market
Knowledge and Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strategy and execution skills at the enterprise level.

This role requires that the candidate have a proven track record of leading large teams through ideation, design, and delivery of complex consumer-facing products, preferably in the eLearning space (but not required).

Product & delivery depth:
Deep knowledge and extensive track record in leading teams in the development of web and mobile solutions, with a deep understanding of how to get consumer-centric solutions to market with a high degree of success Deep knowledge of digital technologies, with an eye toward the continual change in consumer technology, including but not limited to wearables, screen-less UI, artificially intelligent bots, and voice recognition Experience leading product, design and engineering teams through a software development lifecycle that leverages agile principles, yet recognizes constraints necessary in an environment that has both antiquated systems and a construction lifecycle with a long lead time Ability to effectively provide overall leadership across a large and diverse delivery system, that spans product definition, design, and engineering across front-end UI, services, and back-end systems Exceptional verbal and written communication and project/program leadership skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at the senior most executive levels of a company eLearning technology experience is a plus
