UFCU: Credit Analyst

Job SummaryThe Credit Analyst assists the Commercial Lending team with monitoring, managing and mitigating credit risk associated with the existing loan portfolio.

Primary duties include:completing annual reviews on larger creditssubmitting and reviewing annual reviews completed by UFCU’s third party partnerreviewing and interpreting loan documentsmanaging covenant and financial reporting compliancespreading/assessing financial statements and tax returnsThe Credit Analyst relies upon instructions from the credit team and the Director of Commercial Lending and utilizes established guidelines and policies to perform functions of the job.

As part of review process:analyzes management performanceevaluates market or industry riskanalyzes financial performanceanalyzes guarantor wherewithalevaluates and verifies value of all collateralnotes exceptions and/or makes recommendations based upon findings of the reviewsverifies or updates risk ratingManages the relationship with UFCU’s third party partner who completes annual reviews on smaller loan relationships.

The Credit Analyst ensures UFCU’s third party partner completes reviews according to UFCU’s established timetable by providing the partner with the necessary information.Gathers, spreads, and analyzes business financial statements, business tax returns, personal financial statements, personal tax returns, and borrower prepared projections.Calculates and verifies financial covenant compliance.Validates financial reporting compliance requirements.Assists with the preparation of various loan portfolio reports.Reviews and interprets credit memos and loan and collateral documentation.Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.Completes required regulatory training as assigned.Maintains strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to the role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesStrong PC skills required, including MS Word and MS ExcelFamiliarity with loan origination softwareStrong written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong analytical skills and critical thinking skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of personalitiesCompetenciesCommunicationBuilding PartnershipsEmotional IntelligenceAdaptabilityFocus on ResultsBuilding Member LoyaltyExperienceMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in a business related field, preferably in Finance or AccountingMinimum of 2 years’ of experience working at a financial institutionExperience working directly with business ownersPreferred RequirementsSix hours of accounting courseworkFamiliarity with commercial real estate lending, business lending, and SBA lendingExperience spreading and analyzing financial statementsPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without accommodation, in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
