The role reports to the Vice President
– Engineering and located in Greenville, South Carolina.

As a Senior Project Engineer
– Gear Products, you will be a member of a team of technical personnel focused on the design and development of Dodge brand mechanical gear products that align with our growth initiatives.

This person must be able to lead large and small gear product design projects along with perform advanced engineering calculations and support product tests in our R&D innovation center.

Your responsibilities The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, disciplined and able to perform effectively against clearly defined goals and objectives that directly contribute to profitable growth in the organization.

Ensure compliance to all safety and integrity rules and regulations within the function.

Lead small and large projects to develop Industrial gear reducers.

Work with designers to create and design gear reducers.

Run software to analyze shaft stress and deflection.

Select bearings and run software to determine bearing life.

Perform helical and bevel gear design.

Provide technical support for development testing.

Project Management and reporting.

Lead and train new Engineers.

Your background Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 10 years of experience working in mechanical design.

Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Proficient with SolidWorks or other similar solids modeling software on mechanical products.

Basic understanding of project management processes.

Basic knowledge of Lean principals.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially the use of Word and Excel.

Proficient with KISSsoft or similar shaft, bearing, and gearing design and analysis software.

5 plus years’ experience designing industrial gear boxes or similar mechanical products with rotating shafts.

Able to understand complex manufacturing drawings that utilize Geometric Tolerancing.

Experience leading other technical employees in development projects with minimal supervision.
