How will you power what’s possible? Safety Specialist, Denton Texas.Job Summary:The Safety Specialist’s responsibilities consist of providing resource support for the safety regulatory requirements of the Southwire Denton facility, performing day-to-day safety responsibilities to comply with those regulatory requirements, as well as providing direction for company safety initiatives using OPS principles. Duties and Responsibilities:Provide support for compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations.Provide support for Sustainability and Growing Green goals and initiatives.Assist and support the management of the local safety program.Development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and procedures.Conduct periodic safety audits/inspections and report results to appropriate members of management. Audit and monitor activities to insure all safety regulatory requirements are being met.Prepare and administer safety courses and training programs as required by regulations and management.Provide effective safety communication and liaison support between employees, facility management, and federal, state, & local regulatory agencies.Assist in OSHA VPP safety initiatives as needed. Participate and lead incident investigation and root cause analysis as required.Assist in the development, implementation and sustainment a systematized safety program that ensures the facility meets divisional and company standards.Review, interpret, and effectively communicate to management and operational personnel current and future OSHA regulations, their impact on operations and prepare programs to ensure regulation compliance.Qualifications and Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree is required in a safety, environmental, engineering, science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.2-5 years’ experience with safety in general industry and/or construction. Ability to effectively work with people at all levels of the organization and effectively communicate both orally and written.Adept at resolving complex problems encountered in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Requires effective computer skills including Microsoft Office.Professional certifications in industrial safety desired.Current or ability to complete certificates of completion in applicable safety regulations.Working ConditionsTime is split between office work and plant area work. Potential exposure to hazardous materials and/or extreme environmental conditions. Must be capable of long walks over rough terrain and climbing ladders to elevated and underground locations. Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts.Some travel to remote locations is required. Benefits We Offer: 401k Matching Family and Individual Insurance Packages (Health, Life, Dental, and Vision) Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays Long & Short-Term Disability Identity Theft Plans Retirement & Pension Plans Employee Assistance Program Employee Referral Program Tuition Reimbursement Programs Advancement & Professional Growth opportunities  Parental Leave & More  Southwire is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
