Job Description

Research Associate responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supports biologics drug development by applying a variety of analytical methodologies for cellular and biochemical/biophysical characterization of recombinant antibodies and recombinant Adeno-Associated viruses (AAV) 
  • Develops and validates bioassays to qualify and release process and stability samples
  • Performs experiments, data processing, and presents results to internal departments and in technical reports
  • Communicates scientific findings, provides status updates on assigned tasks in one-on-one discussions and within the project team and department meetings
  • Contributes to the functions of the laboratory including ordering, organization, chemical and equipment monitoring, and maintenance

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Experience with the following immunological assays such as ELISA, HTRF, and Western blotting
  • Experience with the following cell-based assays such as proliferation and apoptosis
  • Experience with DNA/RNA assays such as qPCR, ddPCR, or DNA/RNA quantitation
  • Hands-on experience with plate readers, 2D gel imaging, liquid handlers, flow cytometer, fluorescence microscope, analytical ultracentrifuge, Octet and Biacore
  • Working knowledge of analytical method development and validation in a GMP environment
  • Familiar with a variety of software and information systems such as Empower and LIMS
  • Experience with problem-solving and instrument trouble-shooting
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to write and review SOPs, technical reports and scientific papers 
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, CMC regulatory requirements, and project management
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and managers as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in chemistry, biology, or other related degree concentration
  • 3 – 6 years of relevant experience 
  • Understanding of GMP requirements

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday through Friday (8 a.m.-5 p.m.), with overtime as needed.  Candidates willing to relocate and work in beautiful Berkeley, California are encouraged to apply.
