Sr. Technician – Chemistry

Who We Are: With almost 70 years of experience as an independent research, development, and evaluation laboratory for fuels and lubricants, we are well qualified to tackle challenges affecting marine vessels and locomotives, trucks and automobiles, and even hand-held power tools.

Objectives of this Role: Prepare samples and equipment by liquid-liquid extraction for analysis by GC/MSPrepare equipment and reagents for liquid-liquid extraction for analysis by GC/MSMaintain and orderly and clean laboratory environment Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Verifying laboratory equipment to assure accuracy of equipment measurementsWeighing out samples and chemicals in preparation for analysis of sample by using an analytical balanceLoading columns with silica gel for extraction of samples then further using Rotavapor and nitrogen blow-down devises to evaporate and concentrate samples for analysisPurifying solvents for use by distillationMaintaining heating mantles and temperature controllersDocumenting and maintaining accurate documentation of samples and activities in data notebooks and maintenance logsFollowing standard operating procedures and exercising laboratory safety practicesCleaning glassware by special methods to ensure no cross contamination occursEmploying safe sample disposal duties and maintaining a clean and orderly environment in the labEmploying commercial and in-house software programs to document data and transfer days into LIMS.
