Located in our Englewood office, Gates is seeking to hire a passionate Research & Development Engineer.

This is an exciting opportunity to serve as a technical lead to drive innovation forward and develop automated solutions to improve productivity and manufacturing capability Youll implement data collection methods, both standard and nonstandard, in an industrial environment.

Youll be performing rigorous data analysis on real time data sets to determine metrics such as performance, process capability, and trigger early alert behavior.

Key responsibilities (to name a few): Porting algorithms or applications to new embedded platforms and systems from requirements to prototype to commercial deployment.

Developing proof of concepts to vet new technologies and systems to pave the path forward for adoption and integration into existing systems.

Capturing project requirements and distill critical technical features and functionalities to properly scope project and create a foundation for other projects moving forward.

Optimizing existing algorithms or applications.

Evaluating new products and integrate them into existing systems or projects ABOUT YOU Undergraduate Degree in electrical, mechanical or computer science; 5 years experience in research and development required Masters Degree in related field preferred; 3 years experience in research and development required Experience in C and/or C++, and Python.

Experience with R is a plus.

Working knowledge of Embedded Linux or other embedded operating systems.

Strong knowledge of Debian distribution of Linux and Windows Server Operating Systems.

Familiarity with ARM/ATMEL architecture.

Any other microprocessors/microcontrollers would be an added advantage.

Understanding of common I/O form factors, protocols, and how to interpret such information into usable data.

Hands on person, quick to learn new technologies, willing to lead projects.

Knowledge of Agile development practices and associated documentation.

Mixed Signal Design, Signal Processing, and signal analysis a plus.

PLC experience and ladder logic programming a plus.

Exposure to hardware tools like oscilloscope, signal generators, logic analyzers etc.

Understanding of common debug methodologies and technologies.

Exposure to Serial Communications, Circular Buffers, Timing, and Wireless Communication.

Experience with source control systems (i.e git, svn), eCAD software (EAGLE, ZUKEN, etc), Minitab, Python and Matlab/Simulink for data analysis.

Strong understanding of end-to-end software development including complete product cycle.

Strong understanding of mechatronics/ robotics systems integration.

Travel: up to 10% in North America Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
