Job Description

The Digital Developer Platform team is looking for a technical leader for the Visa Acceptance Cloud project. You will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of large-scale high volume cloud based payment services. In this position, you are a passionate and talented developer with problem-solving abilities and coding/testing/debugging skills who can work in a dynamic environment. You must be dedicated to delivering production-ready code in short timeframes and willing to go above and beyond when needed. You must be a great team player that can help mentor the team and foster a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with product and architecture teams to design and deliver new solutions based on use cases and business requirements
  • Review code and accountability for team’s development activities
  • Participate in proof of concepts and other technical evaluations of new technologies
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and proactively assess and evaluate the adoption thereof into the organization
  • Mentor team members and be an inspirational leader
  • Deliver quality code by ensuring best practices in security and automation
  • Works with cross functional teams to fine tune our strategy and implementation plans so that we can meet our quality, security and resilience objectives
  • Spend 30% of the time writing code, frameworks, and proof of concepts

Qualifications

Basic

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
  • 6+ years Java and J2EE development
  • Extensive hands on design and development skills
  • Extensive experience with web services standards and related technologies (HTTP, Spring, XML, JSON, REST)
  • Mastery of the Java programming language
  • Solid understanding and experience of database technologies such as MySQL or Oracle

Preferred

  • 12-15 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with messaging systems a nice to have (Kafka or MQ)
  • Strong foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, design patterns
  • Experience with development of application/platforms supporting Security requirements
  • Proven problem solving skills and an ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities and challenges
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills and take on new initiatives
  • Strong leadership experience and team player.

Additional Information

Work Hours This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.

Travel Requirements This position requires the incumbent to travel for work less than 10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
