About The Role

We are looking for a passionate Staff Solutions Engineer to design, develop, and install software solutions as part of the server development team and support the HW/FW development team to execute and debug test plans for hyperscale platforms. The Staff Solutions Engineer is expected to build high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software that embraces industry best practices and to engage with multi-disciplinary teams such as Electrical Engineering, Firmware, etc. to help in planning, executing, and debug of hardware development and validation activities.

The Staff Solutions Engineer’s responsibilities include translating user requirements, defining system functionality, writing code in various languages (Python, C/C++, and JavaScript), software installation, debugging, and troubleshooting. Our ideal candidates understand Software Engineering processes and go beyond being able to write a ‘program’, possessing system-level debug skills to support hardware development.

What You’ll Do

• Work with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, firmware, and software) within ZT Systems to gather requirements

• Design, develop, test, support, and document SW applications and tools as part of the hyperscale server development team

• While the bulk of the engineering activities will be at the OS/Application level, the candidate should be able to perform in any layer of the OS stack including working in the kernel, device drivers, and VM space.

• Support troubleshooting and debug activities for SW, FW, and HW

• Innovate and propose out-of-the-box ideas

• Handle multiple projects at the same time: These projects are both at the software stacks as well as HW validation projects (test plans design, test execution, debugging, reporting, etc)

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in application/system development, preferably on back-end stacks.

• 5+ years of experience with enterprise and/or cloud server hardware, including an understanding of HW/FW architecture and comprehensive technical knowledge of traditional server protocols and interconnects, including PCIe, DDR, SATA/SAS, NVME, Networking, etc.

• Strong development skills with Python and proficiency in Shell scripting in either Linux (e.g. Bash) or Windows (e.g. PowerShell). Other languages of interest include C/C++ and JavaScript.

• Knowledge of OS and driver installation, configuration, and troubleshooting in Linux and Windows servers, including knowledge of networking and storage. The ideal candidate must be able to install both HW and SW on a rack and understand OS deployment and debug mechanisms.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Multiple years of customer interaction experience are preferred.

• Must have familiarity with tools to support high-performance software development and delivery such as source control (e.g. GIT), bug tracking (e.g. JIRA), CI/CD flows, and Agile development model.
