Assoc Dir, Software Dev

Raytheon designs, develops, produces and supports a vast array of electro-optical/infrared sensors, active electronically scanned array/scanning radars, and various integrated systems solutions to provide customers with actionable information for strike, persistent surveillance, and special mission applications. These best-in-class systems perform detection, identification, tracking, targeting, navigation, weather, and situational awareness tasks from a variety of airborne platforms including maritime, littoral and overland patrol aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, and other tactical, attack and transport rotary and fixed wing aircraft.

This position supports the Radar Surveillance Systems (RSS) product area within the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems (ISRS) mission segment of Raytheon. RSS provides state of the art radar systems for both domestic and international customers. The radar systems include both airborne and ground systems that provide surveillance, reconnaissance, and entity tracking and location capabilities on a variety of platforms. This specific position will provide software architecture leadership and governance for multiple programs within the product line. The candidate will also spearhead the use of Digital Engineering and modern DEVOPS techniques within the product line. The candidate will have a proven track record providing software technical leadership on large development programs including the development and augmentation of software architectures to meet the technical requirements of the product while balancing system level constraints such as program cost and schedule. Responsibilities include architecture development, providing technical leadership, execution oversite, proposal support, and strategic planning. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate recommended approaches, constraints, and rationale to varied audiences including multiple levels of management and to the customer and then lead the successful implementation of that recommendation.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 15 years real time software development experience
  • Prior experience providing software leadership and software architecture definition/guidance on large complex software systems
  • Strong understanding of architecture design principles and governance including various open system architecture approaches
  • Prior experience implementing DEVOPS pipelines and use of the use of Digital Engineering concepts to improve program productivity
  • Ability to create a results based vision and successfully lead the team in its implementation
  • Prior experience supporting proposals and business development activities
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to decompose, document, and communicate architecture rationale, approach, design and governance
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate the customer, all levels of management and with individual contributors on the program team.
  • Ability to work across disciplines to find balanced approaches to technical issues
  • Existing DoD top secret clearance with ability to obtain required program SAR clearance (Desired: Last clearance investigation should be 6 years or less)

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience architecting, designing, developing and testing mission, infrastructure and test software for Radar systems. Knowledge of how radars are controlled and process data is desired.
  • Strong knowledge of various DEVOPS tools, model base engineering, and automation of development and test processes
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Experience with a variety of messaging and communication protocols
  • Cyber, AT, and Security related software experience
  • Prior experience with virtualization and containerization
  • Experience industry standards such as OMS, FACE, and SOA
  • Experience with Green Hills, VxWorks, or Linux operating systems on multi-core processors
  • Experience with different processor architectures including Intel, PowerPC, ARM
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies

  • Required Education: Minimum Bachelors of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
