What You Will Do In Your Role:

• Critical assessment and management of critical illness and extensive collaboration with critical care doctors with different specialties
• Numerous educational opportunities in advanced and new knowledge and skills in critical care
• Actively involve and engage in family involvement in the care of critically ill and end of life care

About the Medical ICU:

• 24 bed Intensive Care Unit
• Caring for non-trauma, high acuity medical and surgical patients including interventions such as CABG, Impella and SLED
• The physicians are highly engaged and provide 24/7 coverage
• 1:1 mentorship with supportive, experienced staff
• Many opportunities and educational resources including national certification support, tuition reimbursement and clinical ladder advancement
• Includes management of acute and chronic respiratory failure, kidney failure, DKA, and other acute events, including Sepsis and COVID-19
• Active multidisciplinary Team rounding and engaging staffing in the identification of safe and efficient care
• Unit culture of diversity and collaboration with interdisciplinary team and family involvement in the plan of care

With over 370 beds Methodist Hospital Metropolitan offers outstanding heart and cancer care, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, obstetrics and gynecology services, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, sleep disorder evaluation and the largest emergency room in downtown San Antonio. What qualifications you will need: 

• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program required. 

• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse required

• Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License required (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)

• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required
• At least 2+ years of RN experience in a Critical Care setting preferred
