The Receptionist works directly under the Administrator and assists the Administrator in administrative tasks.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include the following tasks as directed:* Greets individuals as they walk through the door and answer phones* Directs individuals to where in the building they are going as well as transfers phone calls to staff members throughout the building* Performs administrative tasks as assigned by administrator* Maintains current directories of staff and residents * Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of resident’s and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment* Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, coworkers, and supervisors* Reports all resident concerns to the appropriate department head* Reports all incidents, accidents, and unsafe situations immediately* Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services as directed* Complies with facility policies and procedures Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position does not have supervisory duties. Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a healthcare setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role may also encounter Residents who may have contagious illnesses. Appropriate precautions must be taken if applicable.  Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis position is part of a health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Although this is generally a Monday through Friday position, there will be scheduled times of work on the weekends. In the world of Nursing Home Administration, significant events can occur at any given time.
